I found the car in Austria in 2006, hidden in a barn. A rather desolate Ford P2.
What a beautiful car ! American style, rear fin, two colors and lots of chrome.
A German Ford from 1957–1960. The car's unique styling gained it immediately the sobriquet "Baroque Taunus".
The car was already partially broken down and was waiting for a crazy man like me.
I remembered it from my childhood, when my uncle was driving such car. So, as soon as I’ve seen this, I was immediately willing to take the wreck to Munich. And I did.
After many hours of welding, I started to look for spare parts. That was not so easy, but with some help and advantages of world wide web, everything was possible to find.
In the year 2009, I finally finished the restoration.
The car is very rare now. There are only about a hundred such vehicles worldwide.
Taunus 17M P2 was manufactured in 239 978 copies, including 45 468 times produced as a “Kombi” station wagon.
